Sports Medicine Acupuncture in Austin
Traditional acupuncture is a form of medicine that works by activating your “internal pharmacy” — in other words, your body’s own healing capacity. Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years in the East as an effective, drug-free way to heal and support health.
Here in the Western world, our active and stressful lifestyles often lead to acute or chronic pain that is best treated with Sports Medicine Acupuncture, also called Orthopedic Acupuncture. Sports Medicine Acupuncturists are trained as traditional acupuncturists but go on to receive further training in Western anatomy and Orthopedic testing in order to effectively treat injury and pain. While my specialty is treating pain and injury, as a holistically trained acupuncturist, I also treat allergies, asthma, women’s health and wellness, and other common maladies. It is my belief that to effectively treat any condition—be it pain or hormonal imbalance—it is necessary to understand each individual client as a unique and complete system.
The beauty of Chinese Medicine is that each treatment plan considers the person’s lifestyle, constitution, energy and digestion in relation to their symptoms.
For this reason people find improvement in many areas of their life while undergoing treatment. Often people that are being treated for pain may find their stress levels reduced and improved digestion and sleep. Or a person with asthma may find that their lower back pain improves over the course of treatment. The body and how it functions is much more than the sum of its parts. And, if the system as a whole is functioning well, the healing is accelerated and more profound.
